Spiced Holiday Jam

This recipe is perfect for your Thanksgiving or Christmas feasts.

Equipment

  • Canning jars
  • Large deep pot for water bath canning
  • Ladle
  • Funnel
  • Jar lifter

Ingredients
  

  • 6 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 6 allspice
  • 16 oz cranberries
  • 16 oz strawberries
  • 3 apples
  • 6 cups sugar
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 pouches pectin

Instructions
 

  • Place whole spices in a spice bag (a piece of muslin works well).
  • Add to a large pot with chopped fruits, water, sugar, and lemon juice. Simmer until the fruits break down.
  • Strain the mixture into a clean pot. Add the pectin and bring to the boil for 2 minutes.
  • Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars. Secure the lids finger tight.
  • Add the jars to a large pot and cover with hot water. Bring the water to a boil, and once at a rolling boil, time the process for 10 minutes.
  • Remove the jars from the water and set aside to cool down overnight.
  • Label and store.
